Excellent question! People will argue that the harem pant is one of the ugliest things to make a comeback over the last few years, but I bet to differ. This pant is so extremely comfortable, & can be worn with pretty much anything… within reason, of course.

With harem pants — in any color or length — the simpler your outfit, the better! Not that you would have to resort to wearing plain white t-shirts & flats, but keep in mind that the harem pant is a bold fashion statement. & because it’s bold, it’s best to keep the rest of your outfit subdued & minimalistic, in the aspect of layering things on top of the outfit. In other words: Let the harem pant be the ONLY bold trend in your ensemble.

Bring some personality to the harem pant by pairing it with your favorite graphic t-shirt. Stripes & vibrant colors would be perfect for the ensemble. It’s colorful, but still understated in contrast with the harem pant. Also, never underestimate the power of a simple plain t-shirt. When I wear my drop crotch pants, I pair it with a plain white t-shirt & it looks divine. Just make sure that whichever type of shirt you decide to wear has a slimmer fit. Stay away from baggy, loose garments with the harem pant. You don’t want to look like you’re wearing a trashbag.

For shoes, a comfortable pair of wedges go very well with the harem pant because they elongate your legs, since the crotch of the pant falls so much lower, & can seemingly make you look shorter. Flats or strappy sandals are still a good choice, though, if you tend to shy away from heels (like myself).

Again, you can really wear anything with the harem pant, as long as it’s simple & appeals to the silhouette that the pant portrays. Experimenting is the key. Try pairing your harem pants with some shirts in your closet. Look at the way they make your body look & really see which tops would go well with it.
