“how can I bundle up for the winter & still be stylish?”
dear apricot,
I’m slowly starting to prepare my closet for the cold months of winter here in Canada. My goal is to be stylish and chic but still manage to keep myself warm and comfortable, especially since I’m going to be walking to school everyday. I’m having a really hard time finding fashionable boots, hats, mitts etc. I’m really a jeans and sweater kind of girl, but this winter I’d like to dress a little more stylish. I could really use your help!

Ariane,
This is an excellent question, & one that many women ask when they’re facing the biting cold winter months.
First, let’s start with a cozy jacket…

(for product information, click here.)
There are many, many different styles of jackets to choose from, & it’s completely up to you to decide what kind of look you want. The military-esque look is quite in right now, & can be dressed either up or down. You could also try going for a bold color. Red is beautiful for fall & the color can act like an accent piece for your ensemble. If traditional is more your style, try a classic trench with an interesting pattern. Or if you’re more of the rebel type, go for a leather jacket; or opt for faux leather, which will significantly lower the cost.
My advice: Don’t be afraid to spend a little extra on a coat. Coats & jackets are investment pieces, & typically stand the test of time & trends. So find one you really love, find one that works with everything in your wardrobe, & don’t shudder at the thought of spending over $100. More than likely, you’ll never have to buy another jacket again!
Once you’ve found the perfect jacket, you’ll need to invest in some boots to keep your feet warm.
